I’ve been involved in this odd little “pickup community” for about five years now.  About a year before “The Game” came out, one of the HUGE gurus from the book met me and asked me to work with him.  I was returning to college to finish my degree, and I thought it’d be more fun than spending my free time playing Halo.

That was in 2004.  By 2006, I’d had enough.  The company was huge, and we were running worldwide "pickup bootcamps," but this guru and I just didn’t get along, and frankly, I saw a ton of holes in what was being taught. Guys were getting good, but they weren't getting GREAT, and their results were wildly inconsistent. Heck, MY results had been wildly inconsistent, too.

You see, no matter how good my "pickup game" was, it was inauthentic. Girls who didn't see through me after a date or two had me figured out after a month or two.

I never felt in control. Even after a month of dating a girl, I'd often have that feeling in the pit of my stomach - like if I didn't say the exact right thing, I'd lose her.

And the big secret of the pickup community is that almost every single "pickup artist" has the same issues. After two years on the inner circle of the pickup community, I knew only one thing for certain: a lot of the guys who sell dating advice are full of it.

So I resolved to find the guys who were the real deal. I dropped out of the pickup community, and vowed never to return.

They were honing their instincts for women when the rest of us were playing Dodgeball or Mario Kart or studying for our Algebra II exams.  From a very young age, their minds were shaped in ways that most of the rest of us didn’t experience.

Why Everything You Thought You Knew About Attracting Women Is Dead Wrong

Until recently, the whole field of “pickup advice” has been limping along.  Tactics like indirect openers and relate & reward were revolutionary when they were first used… but now they just annoy women.

In the world of the Big City players, attraction processes have been honed to a razor sharp edge.  These guys have spent decades refining them.  A few of these processes have found their way to the rest of us. But only the basic ones.

Someone had to get these two camps together – and unite the relatively nascent “pickup community”, with the always natural, always instinctive “New York Naturals"  and their tremendous experience.

Before I knew it, I was doing coaching as a "side gig". My clients were getting insane results - consistently meeting and dating the stunning women they wanted. I soon started a company called "The Social Man," and hearing about how we were "different" than the first wave of pickup companies, the media came calling.

And the best part?  What we were teaching all came from instinct.  It could best be described as:

• getting out of yourmy head and being intuitive about what women were feeling and what they wanted.  This made opening and leading interactions towards intimacy about 4 times more effective than when you're just plowing ahead blindly (and I have several 100% effective techniques for developing this intuition that worked with every client who tried them)

So I went back, refined, refocused, and rethough how it was taught. I wanted a 99.95% success rate with this material. I re-released it to a small group, and their results were atypically awesome.
